Parking Stands

Stand allocation is normally performed automatically by UKCP. In the event of a UKCP failure, stands shall be allocated in accordance with the following guidance:

  • Commercial Airlines - Stands 1-10 (Terminal Apron)

  • Corporate (‘Business’) Aircraft - Stands 11-15 (South Apron adjacent to the Jet Centre)

IFR Departure Clearances

There are no SIDs at Southend. All departures receive an ATS route clearance via a ‘Preferred Departure Routes’ (PDR) on stand prior to start-up.

Departures To Via Designator Route
West - Q63 EVNAS CPT EVNAS - LAM - BPK - HEN - CPT
North - L10/N601 BPK EVNAS - LAM - BPK
North-East - L608/L620 CLN CLN CLN
South-East - L9/L10/Q70 DET DVR DET - DVR
South/South-West - M189 LYD DET - LYD

The initial climb is 3000 ft for all departures and is to be issued with the clearance.

Radiotelephony

ENZ465F, cleared to Cardiff via the CPT preferred departure route. After noise abatement turn left on track EVNAS, climb to altitude 3000 ft, squawk 5376.

Departure Releases and Separation

Wake Turbulence

Wake turbulence separation is to be applied in accordance with MATS Part 1 CAP 493.

IFR Traffic

ADC shall obtain a release from MC DIR for all IFR departures.

Additionally, for departures joining the ATS route network, ADC shall obtain an additional release from:

  • Via EVNAS (North) - TC North East

  • Via CLN (North) - TC East

  • Via DET (South) - TC Thames (TMS DIR).

It is the responsibility of ADC to obtain both releases prior to departure.

MC DIR may provide amended after departure instructions with their release to enable them to deconflict against other IFR traffic. ADC shall pass the after departure instructions and receive a correct read back before issuing take-off clearance.

Radiotelephony

ENZ465F hold position, after noise abatement Runway 05 turn left heading 360 degrees, climb to altitude 3000 ft.

It is the responsibility of MC DIR to provide releases for IFR traffic that ensure separation between departing aircraft (see Approach Control – Outbound Procedures). In the absence of a unit providing radar services aircraft may depart with a 4-minute departure interval when routing in the same general direction (i.e. North-North or South-South), reduced to 1-minute when routing in opposite directions (i.e. North-South).

VFR Traffic

VFR traffic cleared via the standard procedure detailed in General – VFR Procedures shall be pre-noted to MC RAD prior to departure.

Non-standard VFR traffic will require an individual clearance and a subsequent release from MC RAD.

Departure Hand-off Order

All IFR departures are to be transferred to MC DIR (128.950) once aerodrome conflictions are resolved, unless otherwise notified by APC.

In the absence of MC DIR IFR departures are to be transferred to Thames Director (THAMES_APP on 132.700) or in their absence, in accordance with the following priority order:

Coordination Name Position Logon Controller Identifier Frequency
TC South East LTC_SE_CTR TCSE 120.530
TC South LTC_S_CTR TCS 134.125
TC Bandbox LTC_CTR TC 135.805
AC Dover LON_D_CTR LD 134.905
AC South LON_S_CTR LS 129.430
AC South Central LON_SC_CTR LSC 132.605
AC Bandbox LON_CTR L 127.830

Otherwise, departures via CLN and EVNAS shall be transferred to TC North East (118.825).

All VFR departures are to be transferred to MC RAD (130.780) (or MC DIR if MC RAD is closed).
